We are a group of friends who study and work together at Liverpool John Moores University.
Our choir formed in September 2018 to sing a capalla sea shanties and sea ballads. We rehearse in the 'Moot Room' - a deconsecrated chapel in the John Foster Building on Mount Pleasant in Liverpool.
We have been through numerous name changes in the years of our existence: Anti-Shanty; The Full Shanty; The Long Haul Rattlers . Our current (final?) name bows to the inevitable!
We are a mixed choir of five men and five women. We sing a variety of traditional shanties and sea ballads, as well as some original material in the shanty style.
The shanty as a musical genre is closely associated with the great maritime port of Liverpool. We have performed at a range of venues across the city.
Some of the material included on this site might be considered offensive. This is a reflection of the period and the circumstances in which these songs were first performed. We love the songs, but we don't endorse the questionable sentiments expressed in them.
